Professor Luo Ning Attended the International Academic Conference in National Chung Hsing University

During the period April 22 to 23, professor Luo Ning, from Chinese department of School of Humanities, attended a international academic conference about popular literature and the culture of Tang Dynasty which was held by National Chung Hsing University in Taiwan.

This conference was sponsored by Chinese department of National Chung Hsing University and Tang Dynasty society. The international academic conference of popular literature is a series of literature meeting, while the symposium of the culture of Tang Dynasty is Influential across the straits as well. There were over 70 scholars from mainland China, Taiwan, HongKong, Japan, America and Singapore attended the conference. More than 40 theses were published about poem and novel of Tang Dynasty, history, philosophy, studies of Dunhuang and religion. The famous sinologist, professor Victor H. Mair from University of Pennsylvania and professor Takata tokio from Kyoto University gave the keynote speech. Professor Chen Shangjun, the president of Society of Tang Dynasty in China and other 11 Chinese scholars offered the presentations about their theses.Professor Luo Ning’s thesis had triggered interests and arguments among participants. He was invited to carry on an academic review to a paper.

On September 9, the School of Humanities will host the 18th international seminar about literature in Tang Dynasty. This seminar is the largest one about Tang literature, or even literature in ancient China. In this conference in Tanwan, professor Luo sent the invitation to participants and expressed the hope to see them again in Chengdu this autumn. The chairman ofSociety of Tang Dynasty, professor Lin Shuzhen, had specially introduced the seminar in the closing ceremony.
